Geographical mobility of employees of a company dedicated to the marketing of industrial machinery
Context:
The company was in a negative economic situation and was in the process of being wound up. The company had recently discontinued its manufacturing business and was only active in marketing. Despite having ceased its manufacturing activity, the company was still located in an industrial estate, which was suitable for manufacturing companies, but not for marketing companies.
How we helped:
During the project:
- We analyzed and demonstrated the negative economic and financial situation in which the Company found itself.
- We analyzed the current location (facilities and surroundings) of the Company, also carrying out field visits, concluding that neither the area nor the facilities were suitable for a purely marketing company, the facilities being very old and oversized for the volume of activity and personnel at that time (the image for the customer was of crucial importance).
- An external specialist was hired for the search process for the new location, after which the Company decided on a location adapted to its needs, taking into account (i) the area, (ii) costs, (iii) accessibility, (iv) additional services, (v) parking, (vi) customer image and (vii) representativeness.
We analysed the impact of the change of location in terms of:
- Extra distance from one centre to another and difference in kilometres for each employee of the distance to the current location vs. the new location.
- Distance time from one centre to another and the extra time for a sample of employees to go to the new centre vs. the current one.
- Extra cost of travel: (i) by private transport and (ii) by public transport).
Following the preparation of the technical report, we attended meetings with the Works Council to present the findings of the report and answer their questions and doubts. An agreement was reached with the Works Committee.
Result:
Geographic Mobility of the Company’s employees was successfully carried out.
